BIO
Bogotá, Colombia . 1998
I am an artist and filmmaker based in Bogotá, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Universidad de Los Andes (2022), with an emphasis on drawing and a minor in Film and Video. My practice spans multiple media, from drawing and printmaking to video, all of which stem from my interest in reinterpreting everyday visual language. My early influences include artists like Jasper Johns, Oscar Muñoz, Cy Twombly, and Julie Mehretu, whose approaches to abstraction and mark-making inspired my exploration of repetition, reappropriation, and visual archives.
My cinematic work arises from my engagement with camera operation and montage, providing me the crucial ability to shape the moving image from start to finish. This hands-on involvement allows me to integrate my physical presence into the creation of these images, where I aim to merge experimental narratives with a distinct visual identity, exploring themes of memory, impermanence, and the fluid boundary between reality and representation.
Mentorship from influential figures like Lucas Ospina has been pivotal in my artistic development, providing both conceptual guidance and rigorous research foundations. This support has been reflected in my career milestones in both solo and group exhibitions. Winning first place in the Premio Salón Séneca (2020) provided the opportunity to present my first solo exhibition, "Re-mens-nt-ias" (2021). And, the project "Perder por bandera" (2022) mentored by Lucas and Beatriz E. Díaz earned me a meritorious thesis award at the "Veintidós" (2022) collective final semester exhibition.
I’m currently navigating between film sets and studio-based artistic research, focusing on building relationships within my community across both art and film worlds. My work is driven by a desire to explore new intersections between these fields and challenge established visual norms.

STATEMENT
My artistic work is a constant search for patterns and connections in the world. My fundamental goal is to challenge and reconfigure everyday visual language, proposing new forms of interaction through imagery, seeking to uncover the essence while laughing at the cherished.
I delve into the vast visual archive that surrounds us: from user manuals to encyclopedias, from traffic signs to digital icons. Within this diverse spectrum, I seek the beauty in the familiar and the importance of finding meaning in the known.
Repetition and reappropriation of preexisting images are the pillars that sustain my work. Through these techniques, I forge new visual and conceptual dialogues that question the notion of originality and encourage reflection on the production and management of images in the collective imagination. In these processes, I strive to maintain an intimate relationship with the images I use, exploring their nuances in a creative process that begins with drawing and extends to other mediums such as painting, printmaking, and video.
This journey of artistic discovery manifests at the intersection of the past and the present, where each image becomes a starting point for a constantly evolving dialogue between the chosen images, the viewer, and the graphic world that surrounds us. My work thus represents an invitation to commune in the shared archive, to explore the echoes of symbols around us and their importance in our contemporary visual culture.
